2012 Masters Champ Bubba Watson will team with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson - U.S. Open 2012 -
The U.S. Open returns to the west coast next week as Olympic Club in San Francisco hosts its first U.S. Open since 1998. The tee times and pairings have been announced, and the first round headliners are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who will team with 2012 Masters champ Bubba Watson on Thursday, June 14.
Woods, a three-time
U.S. Open winner (2000, 2002, and 2008), is in a group with Mickelson and Watson that will tee off at 7:33 a.m. PDT from the No. 9 tee in Thursday's first round. Mickelson, a four-time major winner, has never won the U.S. Open but he has finished second a whopping five times (1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2009).
UCLA sophomore and former Servite High School star Patrick Cantlay, the world's top ranked amateur, tees off at 7:59 a.m. from the first tee. This is the second U.S. Open for Cantlay, who made the cut last year and finished tied for 21st at Congressional.
Fellow amateur Beau Hossler, a junior at
Santa Margarita High School, qualified for his second U.S. Open as well. Hossler is among the first to tee off at hole No. 1, at 7:15 a.m. PDT. Former Bruin Kevin Chappell tees off at 2:20 p.m. PDT from the No. 9 tee.
